Duty of care, and why it matters more for a business
Household waste has a duty of care attached. Business waste has a stricter one, and the responsibility stays with you as the producer even after somebody else has driven off with it. You are required to check the waste goes to someone entitled to take it, and to keep records that show where it went.
In practice that means a written transfer note for every collection, kept on file. We provide one as a matter of course rather than when asked, because the businesses that get into difficulty are the ones who took the cheapest quote and kept no paperwork.
Confidential material
Two separate things that people conflate. Paper records with personal data on them need secure destruction, not a general van — tell us and we will arrange the right route. Computers and drives need the data dealt with before the hardware goes anywhere. Do not assume a deleted folder is gone, and do not let a machine leave the building until somebody has decided what is happening to its contents.
Working around a business
Shops generally need clearing when they are shut. Offices often want it done without staff climbing over stacked furniture all afternoon. Units on the estates are easier — there is usually room to back a van right up to the shutter.

What is duty of care for business waste?
A legal responsibility that sits with the business producing the waste, not just with whoever takes it away. You have to make sure it is handled by someone entitled to take it and keep records showing where it went. We provide a transfer note for every commercial collection so your file is straight.
Can you do regular collections rather than one-offs?
Yes. A lot of small Dudley businesses fall in the gap between a household bin and a full trade contract — a workshop, a salon, a café, a small office. A scheduled collection on a pattern that suits you is usually the sensible answer.
What happens to old computers and IT?
